Tilhill Forestry are about to start a programme of wood harvesting operations along Wades Road. They have been into school today to ask if we can let folk know that there are potential health and safety issues in connection with this. Everything is being done to minimise risk. For instance, fencing is going to go up around where machinery will be kept, but there will still be risks, for instance, the timber stacks - they may look great to climb but are actually really dangerous.
They want us to advise youngsters to be sensible and avoid risks. They have also said that they will plan their programme of felling to be during school hours and have collected the timings of our school day to make sure no trees are being felled when pupils are walking to or from school.
Fencing will start on Monday, with machinery coming in towards the end of the week.
