As you may be aware, Highland Council has planned a rollout of 1:1 Chromebook devices for every pupil. We are in the next phase of this rollout and in consultation with Highland Councils E-Safety officer, we have been updating our E-Safety Policy and Digital Citizenship Agreements for pupils, parents and staff accordingly.
I have sent these updated policies home in bag post and would ask you to read through them carefully with your child/ren. The internet is hugely popular and a very valuable tool. Many young people are sophisticated in the way they use the internet, for instance the use of social media apps and websites, tailoring their communication for different audiences, and accessing them from a range of devices including smartphones, tablets, and games consoles. However, social media, like all forms of public communication, comes with some risks. Not all of these risks turn into actual problems; and if children never face any risks, they never learn how to deal with them. By helping your child understand what the risks are, you can play a big part in preventing them from turning into problems.
Once read, could you please sign the forms and return them.
